Books Inc. Palo Alto proudly presents local author Rick Glaze for a reading from his book Spanish Pieces of Eight!

A riveting story of family, foreign waters, and a fortune beyond your wildest dreams...

Hours before undoing a complicated and family-busting competition for a vast treasure trove of Spanish gold, Richard Dennison dies-leaving his spoiled children to piece together the clues to track down their inheritance.

This modern-day Caribbean treasure hunt catapults four unwilling siblings-Jimmy, Alice, Zach, and Maureen-into a battle of wit and greed, and it threatens to change the family forever. Can they uncover the fortune or will the clues slip through their fingertips?

"Glaze's feeling for maritime adventures and beauty is inviting"; "puzzles, mysteries, a touch of suspense, and sea breezes. As a thriller, it's an enticing tour of a region the author knows well." --BookLife Publisher's Weekly

He attended the Stanford University Creative Writing Program, and is a graduate of Vanderbilt University. He published The Purple River in 2021. One of Books Inc.’s favorite aspects of being booksellers is getting the chance to welcome and host hundreds of authors a year, from house-hold names to local, debut authors and we are so excited to begin reintroducing the Bay Area with “The Experience You Can’t Download” in our stores with traditional author talks and booksignings. In addition to meet-and-greet author events and standard author talks, we are also continuting virtual author events.

Sales equate success, and as with in-store events, booksales made from an independent bookstore benefit the author, publisher, and lead to future event bookings. Please help us keep the Bay Area the wonderful literary hub that it is by supporting your local Books Inc.
