Books Inc. Campbell welcomes Cupertino Poet Laureate Jing Jing Yang to the shop for a celebration of her latest collection, Flowers in My Dreams!

The title Flowers In My Dreams was adapted from an old song, the song taught by Jing Jing Yang's father when she was a little girl.

The image of the white Magnolia Flowers evokes her childhood memories - the little moments that reflect massive historical events. And her mother's smile and small floral blouse, and big braided pigtails leave timeless treasures in her heart.

The Flowers in My Dreams is a tale of an immigrant's love for family, homeland, and a shout-out for humanity and freedom.

JING JING YANG is the first immigrant Poet Laureate, and the first-ever re-elected Poet Laureate for two consecutive terms (2020~2022) for the City of Cupertino, California.. She was the grand winner of the city-wide Celebrate Creativity Poetry Contest 2017, with her poem “Logograph” in memory of her grandfather, Yang, Shuda (the master philologist of Chinese language and a mentor of Mao Zedong). Her English and Chinese writings have been featured worldwide in Celebrate Creativity Anthology, Redwood Forest, City Headline, Cupertino Scene, and Changsha Nightly Post. Born in Changsha, China, she lives in San Jose, California. Flowers In My Dreams is Jing Jing’s first bilingual poetry collection.

One of Books Inc.’s favorite aspects of being booksellers is getting the chance to welcome and host hundreds of authors a year, from house-hold names to local, debut authors and we are so excited to begin reintroducing the Bay Area with “The Experience You Can’t Download” in our stores with traditional author talks and booksignings. In addition to meet-and-greet author events and standard author talks, we are also continuting virtual author events.

Sales equate success, and as with in-store events, booksales made from an independent bookstore benefit the author, publisher, and lead to future event bookings. Please help us keep the Bay Area the wonderful literary hub that it is by supporting your local Books Inc.
