Joy Harjo is an internationally renowned performer and writer of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation. She is serving her second term as the 23rd Poet Laureate of the United States. As a musician and performer, she has produced seven award-winning music albums including her newest, I Pray for My Enemies. Harjo is the author of nine books of poetry, including the highly acclaimed An American Sunrise, several plays and children’s books, and two memoirs, Crazy Brave and her latest, Poet Warrior. A musical, kaleidoscopic meditation, the memoir reveals how Harjo came to write poetry of compassion and healing, poetry with the power to unearth the truth and demand justice.

Steven Winn is a fiction writer and award-winning arts journalist whose writing has appeared in The New York TimesSouthern Poetry Review, and Sports Illustrated. Winn spent 28 years at the San Francisco Chronicle, and the last six as the Arts and Culture Critic. His past City Arts & Lectures interviews include Alonzo King, André Aciman, Susan Orlean, Frances McDormand, and Diane Keaton.
