Independent Bookstore Day is April 28, but the fun starts April 1 with the Book Lovers Quest Passport!

Download your passport here for a chance to win the Grand Prize: A library of books worth over $1,000 that have been hand selected by your favorite booksellers!

To qualify for the Grand Prize drawing, visit 10 of these stores in April, have each store sign off on the back of this sheet, and then submit this Book Lover Quest form to one of the stores listed here on Independent Bookstore Day, April 28.  It's as easy as that. No problem for a book lover such as you, right?

Books Inc. in Laurel Village is celebrating Independent Bookstore Day all day long with fun storytimes for kids and mixers for adults. Plus! Spend $50 in the store at any point during the day and be entered into a drawing for a $15 giftcard and copy of the 2017 IBD sensation, A Literary Cocktail Party.

Throughout the day sample delicous home-baked treats, snag exciting giveaway items. There will also be an ongoing Horton Hatches an Egg Hunt throughout the day for your little ones. (Ages 2-9)

11:00 AM - Bilingual storytime readings of Dragons Love Tacos in Spanish and English. Make your own paper tacos and have a picture taken with the Taco Dragon. (Ages 2+)

2:30 PM - Design your favorite book cover. If you had a bookstore like Maisie has, what book would you want to sell? Design a book cover for your favorite book or an imaginary one that you would want to read.

5:00 PM - Bikes & Brews Hour! Featuring cyclist and travel writer Bill Thorness sharing his latest guide, Cycling the Pacific Coast: The Complete Guide from Canada to Mexico. Plus! Taste sample servings of a selection of Pacific Coast micro-brews.

Books Inc. in Burlingame at 2:00 PM - Sharpen your sleuthing skills with our Indie Bookstore Day Scavenger Hunt! Players will be broken into teams and will work together to solve puzzles and find clues. Fun prizes will be awarded! (Ages 7-12)

Books Inc. in Palo Alto from 1:00 to 3:00 PM - Fish are Fintastic Storytime! Join us for a swimmingly good time celebrating the colorful storybook by highly acclaimed artist Wilbur Thomas, which was only recently discovered by his heirs. Snacks will be served, and fintastic themed activities will also be a part of this special storytime. (Ages 7+)

There's more! At 4:00 PM local cookbook author, illustrator, and food photographer Erin Gleeson joins us for a meet-and-greet booksigning of her three beautiful cookbooks, The Forest Feast: Simple Vegetarian Recipes from My Cabin in the WoodsThe Forest Feast for Kids: Colorful Vegetarian Recipes That Are Simple to Make, and Forest Feast Gatherings: Simple Vegetarian Menus for Hosting Friends & Family.

Furry friends are welcome! Bring your pooch to the celebration and we'll spoil them with a free gourmet dog treat.
