Retired educator Betsy Schooley discusses her fundamental guide, The Fantastic Elastic Brain: How to Empower Your Child's Mind

Betsy Schooley retired from the classroom--but her own education didn't end there. In the years that followed, she became fascinated with the study of brain plasticity--a pursuit partly inspired by her own diagnosis with ADHD. The brain, she learned, was an organ that had the capacity to adapt; with the right interventions, it could fire up new neural pathways and make new connections.

The Fantastic Elastic Brain is a culmination of Schooley's teaching, personal development, and private-practice experience. Over the past fourteen years, she has studied and learned techniques for harnessing the power of brain plasticity and has seen incredible results. Amazing things have happened with the students Schooley has worked with--and in this book, she shares the "how-tos" for helping kids who are struggling in school. Full of specific exercises, helpful illustrations, and student success stories, and driven by the idea that every child can thrive in the academic space, The Fantastic Elastic Brain is a road map to changing students' brains--and lives!--for the better.

One of Books Inc.’s favorite aspects of being booksellers is getting the chance to welcome and host hundreds of authors a year, from house-hold names to local, debut authors and we look forward to continuing to provide the Bay Area with “The Experience You Can’t Download” in our stores with traditional author talks and booksignings. In the meantime, we have an exciting list of virtual events and meet-and-greet booksignings on our calendar and we look forward welcoming you into this new format.

Sales equate success, and as with in-store events, booksales made from an independent bookstore benefit the author, publisher, and lead to future event bookings. Please help us keep the Bay Area the wonderful literary hub that it is by supporting your local Books Inc.
