INTRODUCTION Youth is the epitome of power of any society. Youth power is the major driving force behind the growth and development of a nation. Youth can influence the nation's economic, social, political and cultural development. Youth power can build a nation but if youth groove to the tune of alcohol and drugs they can bring the nation to dust. Today millions of youth of the world have drowned in the ocean of alcohol and other illicit drugs. Alcohol, tobacco and drug use is prevalent throughout the world in all the cultures from centuries. Alcohol use and tobacco use by youths are almost a universal phenomena found among various civilizations and cultures. The imperishability these substances have gained and the admiration they have enjoyed through civilizations is nothing less than historic, predominant and legendary. Alcohol has been an inseparable amity of human civilizations. It has been an intimate associate of human race. It has helped in brightening an author's imagination and accompanied sailors in their voyage, it has reposed someone's agony while offered reason to others to be cheerful, it has stimulated genius in many personalities and has turned art into creations, ideas into inventions and curiosity into discoveries; pacts were signed in its presence, distortions and corruptions too
