Thank you to Adrienne Ducomb for her excellent musical taste, and extensive musical library.
The first book in the Dragoneye Sage, EON: DRAGONEYE REBORN was thrilling. And after the long wait, EONA: THE LAST DRAGONEYE is finally here! Fittingly climactic, and steamy to boot, this heart-thumping finale's got more action than Katniss in an arena that's on fire with evil orangutans coming at her... or at least, comparable action. Anyway, it's rad, and as Eona struggles to accept her new role in an oncoming war, she must also decide for herself between love and power. READ IT.
masquerade ball at our Opera Plaza store, and we hope (and guess) that you're equally pumped to meet the ladies behind the madness!
Tickets are still available, but space is limited! You can book them online here, or call 415-776-1111 to reserve them directly with the store. Tickets are $5 with the purchase of a book, or $10 solo. HOWEVER, if you decide the day of the event to buy a book after all, WE WILL CREDIT YOU $5 back! Yep, NYMBC's got your back. (But, please try and save your receipts!)
This is a good loophole to know, because in order to get in the signing line, you MUST have bought a Cassie Clare or Holly Black book AT A BOOKS INC, by the author you wish to have sign your book. (IE, buy a City of Bones if you want Cassie to sign, buy a Red Glove if you want Holly to...)
The ladies WILL BE personalizing! Books, that is. They will not be signing memorabilia, t-shirts, notebooks, pictures, Kindles, sneakers, bras or your pet dinosaur.
Photos are allowed from the signing line, but unfortunately because of the overwhelming popularity of our fantastic guests, we cannot stop the signing line for posed photographs. However, the winner of our COSTUME CONTEST will get to take a posed photograph with the authors, that will appear on the Not Your Mother's Book Club Blog!
WHEW! Now, go get your tickets (if you haven't already!) and we'll see you there!
Recently, we had the adorable Lindsey Leavitt out as a guest. Not only is she super nice but she's also willing to partake in totally silly videos as the request of NYMBC. So thanks, Lindsey! You're a good sport, and a great author!
Usually, waking up on the wrong side of the bed just means a cruddy day. But for 14yr old Alex, it means waking up a whole different person. With a whole different life. Though he's still Alex on the inside, he now lives inside the body of a boy called Flip (short for Phillip) who's cooler, taller, better looking (even better endowed!) than Alex was previously. And while living in Flip's body does have its advantages, like making out with pretty girls who would have otherwise completely ignored him, Alex cannot let go of his previous self. Alex makes for an entirely relatable and sympathetic main character, even though his predicament is so otherworldly. Bedford elegantly combines humor, honesty and humanity with a high concept plot that keeps the pages turning, the laughs coming and the tears rolling. On sale April 5th, for ages 13+
Out today is the debut novel from Kirsten Hubbard, LIKE MANDARIN.
Set in small town Washokey, Wyoming, Like Mandarin stars Grace, an
intelligent and highly introverted high schooler who's been skipped up a
year, making her first year of high school her sophomore year. As if
that didn't make her enough of an outsider, she's also so quiet, almost
nobody notices she's there. Except, it turns out, Mandarin Ramey.
Mandarin is everything Grace wishes she could be; reckless, glamourous
and sexy. But as her friendship with Mandarin escalates at an alarming
pace, Grace starts to learn that Mandarin is perhaps not as care-free as
she likes to come across.
Hubbard's background as a travel writer is evident, as the Wyoming landscape springs to life. We see through Grace's eyes all the loneliness and desolation of Wyoming, and the absurdity of the beauty pageants Grace's mother forced both Grace and now her younger sister, Taffeta. Mandarin's impulsive actions and Grace's desire to keep up with them keeps the pages turning in this dark, honest portrayal of a tempestuous friendship.
Good for ages 14+
