The Bay Area Storytelling Festival at The Orinda Community Center

Mark your Calendar! The next Bay Area Storytelling Festival will occur April 24-26, 2015
at the Orinda Community Center

The Tellers: We are pleased to announce the featured tellers for the 2015 Bay Area Storytelling Festival! Tim Tingle is an Oklahoma Choctaw and an award-winning author and storyteller. His family experiences and interviews with fellow Choctaws are the basis for his most important writings. Clare Murphy uses the platform of story to create shows that are full of observational humour, social commentary, and epic journeys. Singer-songwriter Kate Campbell has an endearing, clear-water vocal delivery and an eloquent gift for storytelling. Our special guest this year is Hawaii's first poet laureate, Kealoha.

The Festival: Oral storytelling is an art for all ages, from the cutest kids and the hippest adults through the wisest grandparents.

Saturday and Sunday we offer several performances for adults and older kids, a family program and more workshops. We are also hosting an invitational spoken word slam for local high school students.

Mission Statement: The Bay Area Storytelling Festival promotes the timeless, contemporary art of storytelling by presenting today's finest talents. The festival showcases the power of stories to bridge generations, celebrate diverse cultures, and build and connect communities.

Location:The Bay Area Storytelling Festival has a new location! We are delighted to be working with the Orinda Community Center this year.

Sponsorship:If you would like to be a patron of the arts, but you want to support something more interactive than opera, please consider becoming a sponsor of the Bay Area Storytelling Festival!
